Learn the Basics of Digital Photography
I recently bought over 100 copies of my book Digital Photography from the publisher, Random House. The cover price is $20, however, I received an author's discount so I can offer the book now for $10 each (plus $3 shipping and handling).
As you can see from the table of contents below, I wrote the book with the big picture in mind. I wanted to create a book that served as a basic introduction to the subject of digital photography, one that could help establish a solid foundation for anyone interested in pursuing the subject. Even though the book was published in 1992, most of the material is relevant because I focused on basic principles and underlying concepts and avoided product -specific discussions.
Digital Photography is used by several schools around the country, including Rochester Institute of Technology, the premier institution for the study of digital photography. Wired magazine called Digital Photography a "swell read".
I feel so strongly that this book will provide you with an excellent introduction to the subject that I am offering a money-back guarantee. Buy it, read it, and if you don't agree, send it back and I'll send your money back

County Fair Portraits
In 1980, photographer Wayne McCall organized a showing of my county fair work at a photo gallery in Santa Barbara, California. Noel Young of Capra Press saw the exhibit and suggested a book. With cooperation and finanical support from Katherine Tremaine, Carol Valentine and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, County Fair Portraits was published in 1981.
Throughout the production process I was actively involved. From the renowned photographer Ansel Adams, I learned of a new printing technology using laser and digital technologies. I suggested the printer use this technique. He did, and the printed results were stunning. Each portrait maintains subtle details of the original print. To insure that the printing was perfect I stayed in Santa Barbara and watched each page come off the press.
The book was a critical success. I was on the David Letterman show. New West (a major California magazine of the time) published a ten page excerpt. The photos continued to be exhibited around the world. (Click here to view a sampling of portraits.)
Several years ago, Noel offered me a deal on hundreds of copies of the book. These were copies that had slight imperfections on the cover. The printer had stacked the books improperly and in some places the ink had rubbed off. (Of course, this had no effect on the inside images.)
The list price was $15 (in 1981 dollars!) But I offer the book now for only $10 plus $3 shipping and handling.
If you buy County Fair Portraits and Digital Photography together ($20 total) I'll throw in shipping and handling (This applies to US domestic only.)
