Mikkel Aaland, a professional photographer since 1974, is the author of five books: County Fair: Portraits (1981)and Sweat (1978), both published by Capra Press, Digital Photography (1992) published by Random House, Still Images in Multimedia,(1996) published by Hayden/Macmillan and Photoshop for the Web, published in April 1998 by O'Reilly. Aaland?s photography has been exhibited in major institutions around the world, including the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the former Lenin Museum in Prague. He is the recipient of the National Art Directors award for photography. A former columnist for American Photographer magazine, he has also has been published in other American magazines such as Newsweek, Outside, California Magazine, Wired, Publish, and Digital Creativity as well as several leading European periodicals. He has lectured on photography at institutions and conferences such as the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford University, Drexel University and Photo Expo in New York City. His corporate clients include Apple Computer, Corbis Corporation, The Washington Post Company, Lotus Corporation, and the Freddie Mac Corporation.
