(Eventually I will add more excerpts from my book Sweat, a chronicle of my three year world-wide search for the perfect sweat.) The Sword of Heaven Here you'll find excerpts from my most recently finished book, The Sword of Heaven (Travelers' Tales, Fall 1999). This spiritual odyssey took me several times to Japan and five continents where I recorded the fantastic-but -true story of a Shinto priest's and his followers quest for world peace. I've illustrated the story with a style of photography that I call sumi-e photography, which was inspired by the Japanese art of gestural painting. County Fair Portraits Here is a collection of 15 of my favorite portraits taken while I worked the country fair circuit from 1971-1980 in California and Arizona.
